Elīna Garanča
This time I will talk about my favorite lyrical singer: Elīna Garanča.
She is a mezzo-soprano lyric singer. She was born in Latvia, in a family that loves music. She entered the Latvian Academy of Music in 1996 to study singing with Sergey Martinov. She continued his studies in Vienna with Irina Gavrilović, and in the United States with Virginia Zeani.
She began to stand out internationally in 2003 in the Festival of Salzburg (Salzburger Festspiele), where it interpreted to Annio in "La clemenza di Tito", by Mozart, directed by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. After that she began to receive important roles, such as Charlotte in Werther, Dorabella in Così fan tutte for the Vienna State Opera, in 2004, and Dorabella again in Paris, directed by Patrice Chéreau (2005).
Elina has contributed to spread the Zarzuela abroad, popularizing the Carceleras of “Las hijas del Zebedeo”.
Her renowned performance in the opera Carmen, by Bizet, in 2010 was broadcast in 31 different countries.
I love her because she is a powerful, intelligent and very talented woman, also because she is my example to follow, because I'm also Mezzo-soprano.
